Keep in mind - This is not a filing cabinet
In lieu of my previous reposting, “task lists are pockets, not attics”, I’d like to remind us all (myself included) that our inbox/outbox trays (physical or digital) are not filing cabinets. The idea is that data goes in one tray, and out the other, and the goal is to keep both trays empty (meaning you’ve processed the data as it came in, and then shipped it on its way once you’ve finished with it).
If you have stuff in your tray system permanently, you’re not using an inbox/outbox system. You are in fact filing stuff away forever. Dump your inbox on your desk, process it all, then sort it or put it in your outbox for it to be sent away someplace else.
