Notifications - Solving The Whole Problem

One of the greatest problems I’ve seen people face with regards to their work is that they often don’t know what they have to do. A task list or a calendar can solve part of this problem, but there’s another part of the problem which needs to be solved as well.

You need to be constantly notified of the fact that your task list has things on it you need to be doing. You need to be able to, at a glance, take a look at what’s coming up and what needs to be done about it, and while it doesn’t need to be in your face, it needs to be something you’re going to look at more than just once or twice a day.

As part of Sheyon’s Org-Fü/GTD setup, a cork board + index cards/post-it notes serves a purpose in that, at a glance, he can look at his task/project lists, upcoming events, and make informed decisions of what to do about it. It’s in plain sight, too, so for all intents and purposes it’s effortless for him to turn and glance at his notifications.

If you’re using a task list or a calendar that isn’t in sight, 24/7, your problem’s only half solved.
